Destiny Event Productions’ premiere three-day Electronic music festival WEMF returns this year to the picturesque hills of South Algonquin August 12-14. The fact that one of North America’s premiere music festivals will take place in such a small community is a testament to the spirit of the community and to the quality of the festival. Launched in 1995, WEMF has established itself as the ultimate experience for Electronic music and its culture. In addition to acting as a rite of passage for generations of fans and musicians alike, WEMF has been integral in bringing economic, cultural and tourism benefits to the community hosting the event.
COMMUNITY STAGES:
WEMF is determined to increase local cultural consumption by creating something new and interesting that appeals to the young and the young at heart from across the region and puts the community on the international stage. Dedicated to providing attendants with the best concert experience possible, this year a stronger emphasis is placed on developing and nurturing the festival community. WEMF 2011 will feature multiple stages that are created, funded and operated by WEMF ticket holders. All WEMF ticket holders that are looking for the opportunity to give back to the community can present their concept for a community stage to WEMF through a simple application process. WEMF will then decide which concepts work best for the festival. Destiny Event Productions is also hoping to make a significant donation to the local food bank by asking all attendees and food vendors to bring what they can for drop-off after the event.
