The Interview:

VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask you both, in detail what can the producer expect to find in your my Digital Enemy collection of sounds & samples?

My Digital Enemy:  A massive selection of drum loops & hits, synth & instrument loops, vocal loops, fx sounds that will be sure to spice up any Tech House, House or Progressive productions.

VMM Q: Can you tell the VMM what’s your full studio set up can you name your kit list and what’s your favorite bit of kit you use at the moment?

My Digital Enemy: We have three sets of Monitors. KRK VXT8’s, KRK VXT4’s & Mackie HR814’s. The KRK’s are probably my favourite. The 4’s for nearfield monitoring and the 8’s for midfield. We have a custom built (by us) overclocked watercooled PC running Cubase 5 with a massive amount of plugins. We use a MOTU soundcard and have a Powercore unit which has some really good effects on it. We always use the MX5 for mastering and the Virus is cool for leads. Other favourites are Trilogy & Trilian for basses & Massive for phat synth lines. We also use Vintage Warmer & Ohmocide a lot to add character to our sounds. Our Outboard gear consists of a Trilogy keyboard, Novation Nova, TL Audio C1 Compressor, Korg Prophecy and a selection of Mics for recording.

VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask you both, who would you say are your studio production hero’s and who inspired your sound?

My Digital Enemy: Heroes that come to mind – The Prodigy, Moby, Axwell, Fatboy Slim, Willam Orbit and Trent Reznor Artist who are inspiring our sound at the moment would be Dj Chus, Steve Angello, Mark Knight, Dennis Ferrer, Alex Kenji

VMM Q: My Digital Enemy you are well known for your original productions and remixes, so what was it like to work on a music project like this one putting loads of sample sounds together is it still as a creative process for you as making a tune or a remix or is it very different?

My Digital Enemy: It’s very different. The hardest part is getting your head round organizing the samples. Making all the loops up was pretty cool and also helped inspire us in making our own projects.

VMM Q: Was it a difficult process choosing the sounds that you wanted to include in this sample pack collection and how long did you take putting this project together Guy’s?

My Digital Enemy: It was difficult as we really wanted to produce a pack that people would keep coming back to. We put a lot of effort into making the sample pack and from the feedback on the Loopmasters website it looks like it was worth it!

VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask you what new My Digital Enemy productions have you coming out in the coming months?

My Digital Enemy: Our third release on Stealth Records ‘Dirty Brass’ came out last week. It’s had some great reactions. We have three more releases lined up with Stealth for release this summer. The next one is ‘Hanging On’. Roger Sanchez is putting it on his Release Yourself compilation due out next month. And following that our latest collaberation with Carl Hanghan ‘Put Your Hands On Me’.

VMM Q: As a studio guru’s My Digital Enemy do you have any tips you can give dj producers out there to get that perfect groove working and that will have dance floors rocking?

My Digital Enemy: The great thing about music is there are no rules, so don’t be afraid to try something different. Always listen carefully to your favourite artists music and A-B your mixes to them. With tech house the bass is so important so check it on several systems to make sure you get the levels right.

VMM Q: Finally where can we find out further information and buy your Loopmaster New Tech House exclusive collection of sounds & samples?

My Digital Enemy: We are giving away some royalty free samples and a free track on our facebook page so head over to www.facebook.com/mydigitalenemyofficial for all info.
