MIKE PUSH – VMM Exclusive Album Interview

We are excited to once again speak to one of the charismatic and highly talented DJ and EDM producers of the last decade M.I.K.E Push as his latest mix compilation “Classic Trance Anthems” is out now on Armada and available to download at i-tunes and Armada music. We ask M.I.K.E all about putting together this massive trance Compilation collection from the Armada archive and also what’s next for this prolific master of dance.

The Interview:

Hi Mike great to speak to you again here in the VMM!

VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask M.I.K.E what was it like to be let loose amongst Armadas massive trance catalogue?

M.I.K.E PUSH: Well, I’ve been affiliated with Armada for a long time now. My own label Club Elite represents many of the selected tracks. We can relate in sound and crowd. I loved this project from the start. I didn’t find myself scrambling from track thru track. I just thought I’d put together a compilation never had before amongst the trance classics scene.

VMM Q: How difficult was M.I.K.E it to too pick just 14 favorite tracks from this massive catalogue for this new mix comp?

M.I.K.E PUSH: Well I usually think about what my fans want. That’s a start that I can surely relate with! ;) I already felt this one out for some time.

VMM Q: So can you tell the VMM M.I.K.E how long did it take you to choose the final selection that made the “Classic Trance Anthems” compilation and build the track list order?

M.I.K.E PUSH: The selection was quite direct and to the point. Some of the finest tracks put out in their time also for Club Elite. Quite the trance selection I think everyone could enjoy.

VMM Q: Can you tell the VMM what vibe and journey did you want to create from this classic selection of trance that’s different from other compilations you have released M.I.K.E?

M.I.K.E PUSH: When any of my fans hear classic trance needs to take them back to the period when we produced freely without all the criticism we always get today. Productions were rich and easy flowing and created an evolution in the dance scene. That’s probably why they keep coming back!

VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask what new releases, Remixes, collaborations original tracks have you coming out M.I.K.E in the next 6 months?

M.I.K.E PUSH: I can mention a few that are about to be released soon. We have a M.I.K.E. vs Andy Moor and M.I.K.E. vs Benn Nicky, a New Plastic boy and Solar Factor! I’ve been working non stop on a lot of projects including my M.I.K.E. artist album! Others I will keep a surprise on, so you have to keep visiting my website to keep informed!

VMM Q: You moved to the US last year how is the new home have you settled in to the American life style now M.I.K.E?

M.I.K.E PUSH: Well I’ve been traveling for many years back and forth to the U.S. I’ve always loved New York City for the uniqueness it has. That’s why I decided to make the change temporarily with my family. We love the experience, challenge and inspiration behind this place. Keeps your soul going!

VMM Q: A new year starts and your kicking off with this great compilation with Armada so what was the big highlight for you in last year in 2010 M.I.K.E?

M.I.K.E PUSH: Being a DJ/Producer there are so many highlights in one year! I travel and meet so many interesting people. From my Australia tour to playing Belgium’s huge festival Tomorrowland, I feel a total high just thinking about it!

VMM Q: We know you love producing music M.I.K.E so can you give our VMM readers some production tips about mastering the perfect track what hardware or software do you recommend to use?

M.I.K.E PUSH: Logic Pro!

VMM Q: Finally M.I.K.E where can we find out all about your DJ gigs for 2011 and what’s your Schedule like for March 2011 onwards?

M.I.K.E PUSH: Being that U.S. is my home base for the moment, I will be visiting many U.S. states I’ve never been to yet! I have too much still to accomplish with my music. I’m still living, so I keep going!

The VMM wishes M.I.K.E Push best of luck with the “Classic Trance Anthems” OUT NOW on Armada and best for all your other projects in 2011.
