The VMM Asks Suzy Solar all about his Year Of Dance 2010.
VMM Q: The VMM would like to know what has been your biggest achievement in 2010?
Suzy Solar: 2010 has been a very busy year for me! In 2008-2009, I was recovering from severely torn ligaments in my foot, was in a wheelchair, and had to teach myself how to walk again. With the worst of that behind me, I began 2010 with a new release with Thomas DeColita titled “The Unsaid” and started touring and producing again. I’m amazed and thankful that I can walk normally now, so I consider my biggest achievement this year as being back on the stage, performing like I was never injured.
VMM Q: Can you tell the VMM what moments from 2010 will you never forget?
Suzy Solar: Some of my most memorable gigs were “Decibel” (Calgary, Canada), “Summersound Music Festival”(Tampa) with Josh Gabriel, Czar (Tampa) with Infected Mushroom, and “Divalicious” (Seattle). My most memorable club night was at Karu & Y at WMC Miami, where I partied with two of my musical heroes, Ferry Corsten and Solarstone. Recently, I personally handed my newest track to Paul Oakenfold. I also did an interview for a big TV show in Argentina, “Residentes TV,” and was called to audition for a part on a major medical drama TV show on ABC in the US.
VMM Q: Djing and clubbing around the globe can you tell the VMM what has been your favourite event or night of 2010?
Suzy Solar: Hands down, it was WMC Miami!
VMM Q: We would like to know at the VMM what has been your favourite label for 2010?
Suzy Solar: Flashover has consistently come out with phenomenal tracks this year, so they get the nod from me
VMM Q: The VMM would like to ask you who is your favourite newcomer for 2010?
Suzy Solar: The artist that really stands out in my mind as newcomer of 2010 is Audien.
VMM Q: Can you give the VMM your choice of artist of the year for 2010?
Suzy Solar: It’s so hard to choose one, but this year I’ve really taken notice of Aly & Fila’s work.
VMM Q: Can you tell the VMM what are your top 5 tracks from 2010?
Suzy Solar:
1. Thomas DeColita ft Suzy Solar – The Unsaid (Manuel Juveras Dedicated For A.O. Mix) [Elliptical Recordings]
2. Hybrid – Disappear Here (Maor Levi Revealed Mix) [Distinctive Records]
3. Solarstone – The Calling (RAM Remix) [Lost Language]
4. Max Graham ft Ana Criado – Nothing Else Matters (Aly & Fila Remix) [Rebrand]
5. Solis & Sean Truby – Empathy (Rey Remix) [Infasonic Recordings]
VMM Q: The VMM would like to know what has been your funniest moment of 2010?
Suzy Solar: I’m a natural born prankster so every day is funny! Most of the funny things are too outrageous to speak of publicly hehe (maniacal laughter), but I will say one thing. Don’t pass out at my house parties;)
VMM Q: Can you sum up in five words your 2010 year of Dance?
Suzy Solar: It’s. One. For. The. Books;)
VMM Q: 2010 is coming to a close so can you tell the VMM what do you have planned for 2011?
Suzy Solar: For 2011, I’m working on some new tracks and lots of tour dates, so be on the lookout for those. Immediately coming up, I’m really looking forward to going to Calgary Canada to play at Flames Central arena on Boxing Day, and my radio show “Solar Power Sessions” will have its 500th episode very soon
Thanks Suzy and best of luck for all your 2011 projects from the VMM
