Dan Price – December 2010 Promo Mix by DJDanPrice
The Interview:
Hi there Dan Price hope you are well!
QVMM : The VMM would like to know how would you say in 5 words 2010 has gone for you?
Dan Price: 100MilesAnHour! (yes, that’s one word) ; ), Exciting, Stunning, Daunting, Unbelievable
QVMM : Dan Price can you tell us how and when did you start to DJ?
Dan Price: It goes back to when I was a kid, listening to Funk & Soul and anyone who knows House will recognise the natural progression, there. I’ve always been interested in, not only what tracks DJ’s played at clubs, but how they are played. Since as long as I can remember, I’ve played at parties and clubs as a young DJ looking to feed off the reaction of the crowd and take it further. I, seriously, cannot see myself doing anything else!
QVMM : The VMM would like to know how would you best describe the Dan Price sound for people that are just discovering you?
Dan Price: As my profile says “tech-rhythm, glitchy, minimalistic sound and soulful touch” and I’ve also been described as a new-age Kaiserdisco (!) I know, I was pretty stunned, too. : )
QVMM : Can you tell the VMM what new releases we can we look out for in the coming months from Dan Price?
Dan Price: Dan Price ‘Breakthrough EP’ out NOW on Beatport, iTunes, Juno etc… Two singles coming out very soon on Rustem Rustem’s ‘Sexy Trash Records’ and a new EP forthcoming on the Lonya & Audiojunkies ‘Asymmetric Recordings’, plus more remixes and Dan Price productions on the cards.
QVMM : Dan can you tell the VMM what gig’s you have coming up around the globe in the coming months?
Dan Price: A load of UK dates to be announced and maybe even an EU Tour. Besides that, more Production in the pipeline and hopefully a couple of interesting collaborations… so watch this space!
QVMM : So how is the House scene these days in the UK compared to the rest of the globe?
Dan Price: House music is a universal phenomenon that I don’t think will ever falter and I’m so glad to be a part of it. Even in the digital age where (and I think everyone is aware of this, by now) all the time and effort spent actually making music won’t always be rewarded to it’s full potential but, like I said, House will never die. It’s as big now as it’s ever been in the UK and Worldwide… if not, bigger!
QVMM : Can you tell the VMM what’s your favourite bit of studio kit at the moment and why?
Dan Price: Well, for anyone that doesn’t yet know, I’m a huge Ableton Live8 fan so I guess it would that.
QVMM : Dan Price can you tell the VMM what you most love about djing and producing dance music in this new digital age?
Dan Price: I suppose I can say that I’ve had the best of both worlds… I grew up mixing vinyl and have had a real steady transition into CD’s and now USB’s etc that it hasn’t phased me, at all! Also, having been signed to four respectable labels in a little less than year has given me such a boost into an industry that I am so passionate about (the speed of which is due to the Digital age). It’s just indescribable!
QVMM : Can you tell the VMM what goals have you set for yourself for 2011?
Dan Price: As mentioned, a load of UK dates to be announced and maybe even an EU Tour. Besides that, more Production in the pipeline and hopefully a couple of interesting collaborations… so watch this space!
