Gavyn Mytchel & Viceroy Resident DJ’s THE GALLERY Arena- VMM Interview
Recognised as one the biggest club nights on the planet “The Gallery” are the purveyors of all things trance. Their infectious party continues to pack out the world famous Ministry Of Sound night club London every Friday night with the likes of world class dj’s Sander van Doorn, Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond and Judge Jules all playing to packed crowds. Coming to South West Four 2010 off the back of a mammoth tour in support of the nights 15th Birthday celebrations we speak to the Gallery Residents Gavyn Mytchel and The Viceroy as we voyage closer to the massive SW4 weekend and the VMM quiz them both on what we can expect to happen in The Gallery arena for SW4 2010.
The Interview:
Hi guys hope the VMM finds you both well!
Q: So the big SW4 event is coming how excited are you this year about THE GALLERY 2010 Arena line up?
Gavyn: Really looking forward to it as it will be my 3rd time playing there, its a fantastic day out!
The Viceroy:Its my first time playing so I am massively hyped for it. Once again we have a great Gallery lineup and with it now being sold out for the Saturday everything is set for another amazing day on the common, fingers crossed for the weather!!
Q: Can you tell the VMM what’s it like being a resident DJ for a massive night like The Gallery especially when you are involved in a massive event like SW4?
Gavyn: Being resident for The Gallery is a big deal for me as it was the best club night i ever discovered back in Turnmills in 1999, i get to travel all over the world which is a great experience for anyone now we are playing every week at Ministry of Sound, Its Brilliant!
The Viceroy: Its great although playing at SW4 for The Gallery will see me play early as opposed to my usual end of night slot each and every Friday first at Turnmills and now at Ministry. There are not many better parties out there in the whole wide world so to say its amazing would be an understatement.
Q: Can you tell the VMM when did you become Residents for The Gallery and what has it meant to you both to be part of the
gallery family since you joined the team?
Gavyn: I became resident back in 2003 and was a massive honour to be part of The Gallery dj line up, Tall Paul & Sister Bliss are big heroes of mine so was nice to be tagged along with them in all Gallery press
The Viceroy It was five years ago now and i still cant quite believe it, not just that but being part of the Gallery family and heritage is an amazing experience, the talent, characters and passion is amazing to work in and around
Q: So can the VMM ask have you any new tracks that you will be playing out at this year’s SW4 event that you have been working on in the studio?
Gavyn: I will give Dark Spark a play out probably first track, its coming out on Baroque in Nov
The Viceroy: I have remixed a Gallery classic with Graeme Lloyd which will defo be getting a play…so listen out for a new re-rub of Durango 95 – 5:55. I am also working on a cheeky bootleg this week in the studio as well….be there or be square as they say
Q: The VMM would like to know what’s new for the Gallery for September onwards who can we expect to hit the line at the gallery nights?
Gavyn: New concept night Reflections on the 24th Sept, duo djs in the main room and 103 we have loads of mirror balls in there the artwork will be something special as well plus the Gallery Girls will have little mirrored outfits to dance on the stage so that the lights will be reflecting of them as shake their ass!!!
The Viceroy:Dont forget as well we are kicking off proceedings for Ministry’s 19th Birthday weekend with the return of Ferry Corsten on Sept 17th as well which promises to be a rather splendid affair!!
Q: Finally are there any festival tips you can give to all the gallery fan’s coming to support the Gallery Arena at this year’s SW4 2010?
Gavyn: Get in there for 12 midday and make sure you head to The Gallery tent as me and Viceroy will be rocking from the off also check out Armin at the end
The Viceroy:Get there early, pace yourself and stay late its the only way. And don’t forget you can have a warm up for the bank holiday weekend on the Friday night down at Ministry of Sound for our regular Gallery session with Markus Schulz – its always a mad one and the real hardcore Gallery regulars will be out in force I am sure.
The VMM thanks the Gallery residents Gavyn Mytchel & The Viceroy for taking time out to speak to us and we wish them continued success.
