Joof Editions – Paul Pearson

Paul Pearson Digital Society @Joof Edition UK Launch

The VMM speaks to the UK up and coming DJ Producer Paul Pearson who is a promoter and Resident dj for Digital Society brand. We speak to him about the forthcoming gig with Digital Society & Showcase at the JOOF Editions UK Launch in Brighton at Concorde 2 club and his projects for 2010.

Hi Paul Pearson we hope your well and looking forward to playing at Digital Society Showcase for the JOOF Editions UK Launch.
Paul Pearson: Hi im great thanks really looking forward to playing at JOOF Editions and showcasing what Digital Society is all about.

Q:So can you tell the VMM when did you decide you wanted to get involved with the dance music industry?
Paul Pearson: Well where to start. I got into dance music from a young age when I was at school listening to pirate radio stations late at night when my parents thought I was asleep! I have never really been a fan of popular music as they call it and have always loved dance music since I heard the beats and mixing involved in what was back in the day classed as ‘rave music’. Once I left school and went to college I discovered Gatecrasher in Sheffield late 98 and was instantly hooked on the trance sound, That was the turning point where I thought I want to learn to mix and be involved in the dance music industry.

Q: Paul the VMM would like to know who would you say has been the biggest musical influence on your music today?
I would say Matt Hardwick. He was an inspiration to me while I was learning to mix and clubbing every Saturday night and slowly working my way up the industry ladder. His sets are always full of amazing music and great direction, Like a journey through music. Iv warmed up for and played with him several times and he has played for us a few times at DS and also mixed our first compilation album, a top bloke indeed.

Q: Can you tell the VMM how long have you been a promoter and Resident DJ for Digital Society and who will be playing alongside you this time at the Digital Society Showcase Joof Editions UK Launch on the 16th JULY?
I have been Promoter and Resident at DS since September 2007. Digital Society started in February o7 and during the summer I got onboard when I finished promoting my own small night I used to run for several years. The opportunity arose as my business partner I run DS with was looking to take on more hands as DS grew so I jumped at the chance and well here we are over 3 years down the line with what we have achieved makes me very proud of us as a team. Joining me at JOOF Editions is Joe Garrett aka Temple One who has played for us on several occasions and is a DS Favourite and one of my top producers. Also joining me is Steve Birch of JOOF Recordings so we will certainly be rocking our DS Showcase room.

Q: Paul you are a promoter for one of the UK’s up and coming clubbing brands Digital Society so is there any tips you can give to other up and coming promoters to help PR there events?
Promote in any possible avenue you can, you can never do enough. We are a 5 man team at DS and we try and cover all bases as regards to promotion. Be creative and cover all areas well and people will see your events.

Q:For new trance music fan’s discovering your music for the first time Paul how would you best describe your sound on the dj decks and in the studio?
I love the full genre of trance music from progressive right up to psy & hard trance. I don’t pigeon hole myself into any genre so to speak and most people that have seen me play love my sets as they never know what to expect from me so id say I have a progressive & euphoric trance sound with a harder edged techno kick for good measure.

Q:Can you tell the VMM all about the Digital Society radio show, are you are hosting the show Paul and what‘s the vibe of the show and where and when can we tune in?
My show Digital Society Sessions is on www.afterhours.fm the 3rd Thursday of every month at 4pm GMT and the vibe is pure trance and progressive with myself and special guests every month.

Q:Paul can you tell the VMM what new studio projects, collaborations have you been working on and what releases have you coming out in the coming months?
Paul Pearson: I have several projects im working on myself at the moment, a progressive remix of Sacrifice by Sequentia on our own label Digital Society recordings and two collaborations tracks with friends. One with James Alexander and one with Stuart James, hopefully to be seeing release later in the year so keep an eye out on record download sites.

Q:Do you have any online site where the VMM members can find out the latest about your releases gig’s and Digital Society events?
Paul Pearson: You can check out our website for all information on Digital Society plus my radio show downloads at www.digitalsociety.co.uk and for myself Im currently having a new website designed but my old site is still online at www.djpaulpearson.co.uk

Thanks Paul Pearson for the interview and the VMM team wish you success for the forthcoming JOOF EDITIONS club night, on Friday 16th JULY at Concorde 2, Maderia Drive Brighton, East Sussex UK.
Paul Pearson: Thank you, very much looking forward to it!
